Boundary Waters: Candids

Chad and I stopping for a pic while looking for some good fire wood!
Just relaxing!
The scenery was breathtaking. . . everywhere!
Lunch: nothing like pitas and summer sausage!
Chad and I after my "bath"! I felt refreshed. . . but he was definately warmer!

Boundary Waters: Some Highlights!

Portaging just doesn't look so tought when you can stop and smile for the camera! However, do not let this pic fool you, these guys had some tough carries, over fallen trees, through mud and running water, up steep hills with many different shapes and sizes of rocks, and roots sticking out every where trying to trip ya!
Calvin is in charge of making the eggs this morning! Good thing some of those eggs broke cause he could not have fit any more in that pan!
Calvin and I are makin some water! The water was ice cold out of the lake ready to drink after we purified it!
What is a trip with the fam with out a "tough guy" pic, and what better place than in the lake, where the ice probably just went out of it a few days before we got there! Can we say refreshing?!?
Adam gets the prize for the biggest fish. Atleast a 5 lb northern, but that was awhile ago, maybe it's up to 6 or 7 lbs now. It tasted amazing!

Boundary Waters: The Scenery

These are just some great scenery pics from the Boundary Waters trip that Adam and Angela and Calvin and Chad and myself just went on!

Everywhere we went there were loons, but most of the time they were difficult to get a pic of, always diving under water!
The last nite, probably the worst campsite, the worst sleep any of us got, and a beautiful view!

And what we all have been waiting for. . .

GRADUATION!!!The fam!
Me and the bros
Chad and I
After 5 years of school, they dress us up, and make us look ridiculous! The sleeves and an arm hole, and some extra long piece with no opening. . . notice where my arms are!!!
And how bout that hood. . . it even came with a tail!

Pre-Graduation!!!

The Anchor is a MUST! Cheap burgers, cheap beer! Adam and Angela introduced me to this place a couple years ago and I've been sharing the secret with anyone who comes to visit. I guess if you haven't eaten there it must mean you never came to visit me. . . Shame on you!

Calvin is attempting to eat the Gallybuster! This is the Anchor's 1 lb hamburger. . . three 1/3 pounders that is! Every last bite was amazing. . . just ask him!

My pops and I at Old Chicago. . . we definately ate well this past weekend!

Chad and I relaxing in the hottub!

And now, it is time for some relaxing in the hotel room. . . Hey Angela, are you relaxed???

I saw that. . .

OK, enough is enough. . . I just saw you, little blonde guy, who hit that white honda civic when you walked by. Thank you for letting everyone else know that the white honda civic has a car alarm! There are some sounds I cannot tune out. . . how am I ever going to pack with a car alarm going off. And since I am complaining in this blog, I am reminded of the 1 hour I was on hold while trying to cancel reservations at the Hinkley Casino Hotel. Ang, I love the customer service you talked about, maybe they could host a training for Hinkley. 1 HOUR, I am NOT exaggerating!

Here a truck, there a truck. . .

EVERYWHERE a UHAUL truck!

So, you would think seeing all these people moving would motivate me to get my butt in gear. . . by I am just sitting here on my really comfy couch, watching them, thinking "I am glad I am not moving yet" I made a little deal with myself, and the best way to stick to those is to tell people. . . WELL, I am playing on the internet til 7, then packing/cleaning for 2 hours, then to bed.
Congrats to me, I took my last final EVER today (did pretty good, I think). I know what you are thinking, I should be celebrating. . . but that will wait til tomorrow. We all have this big research project and presentation over our heads. I hope to be done tomorrow. Not to mention I am gonna get over a 24 hour sickness by then. Don't worry mom, I will go to health services in the morning if my throat is still killing me!

Bitter-Sweet

I was cleaning my apartment, packing things up, throwing things away and getting sad in the process. I am gonna miss Duluth . . . I truly love this city. I found this poem on my bulletin board, it has been there for years, but it was good to sit and read it again:

A women will get only what she seeks
Choose your goals carefully
Know what you like
and what you do not like
Be critical about what you can do well
and what you cannot do well
Choose a career or lifestyle that interests you
and work hard to make it a success
but also have fun in what you do
Be honest with people and help them if you can
but don't depend on anyone
to make life easy or happy for you
(only you can do that for yourself)
Be strong and decisive
but remain sensitive
Understand who you are
and what you want in life
before sharing your life with someone
When you are ready to enter a relationship
make sure that the person is worthy of
everything you are physically and mentally
Strive to achieve all that you want
Find happiness in everything you do
Love with your entire being
Love with uninhibited soul
Make a triumph
of every aspect
of life
-Susan Polis Shultz

I have had an amazing five years, if I could go back and do it again, I think I would. . . and I wouldn't change a thing.

Save the Date

We set a date, so mark your calendars:

May 9, 2009

Happy May Day EVERYONE!!!

Happy May Day! And a happy day it is. I gave my last presentation of my college career today, on using the nintendo Wii in therapy. The race is on. . . finish the research thesis, prepare a poster presentation, one huge final, and a couple "wrap up" classes, and this girl is a college grad. . almost. I get to walk across the stage and party like I am done, but the reality of it is, 6 months of interning then the biggest exam of my life, and THEN I am done! I need to motivate myself to pack up my stuff in my apartment. I have the attitude of "why clean, I am moving in 10 days and have to clean then" So needless to say, the place is a bit of a disaster right now! It is depressing cleaning and packing. . . I really do love Duluth. I think I will wait til the last possible minute to pack. . . like next Saturday sometime.
